The Stepped Flowers stole has proven to be one of Kaffe's more popular designs of the past five years. Knit in Rowan Summer Tweed, the stole is a simple to follow geometric intarsia pattern. The design is best tackled by experienced knitters with some comfort with intarsia knitting. The finished stole measures 28.5 inches (73cm) wide by 75 inches (191 cm) long. Our kit contains all the summer tweed you require to complete the stole in Kaffe's original colors. Rowan Summer Tweed is a beautiful aran weight blend of 70% silk and 30% cotton. The patterns calls for a tension of 16 stitches and 23 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) on US 8 (5mm) needles.

Kaffe Knits Again: Special Offer!

This offer comes with a choice. The original pattern published in Rowan Knitting & Crochet number 37 in the summer of 2005 uses an earthy neutral, shade 514 "Reed" as the background.

As a request from knitters who wanted a brighter version Kaffe swapped the background when he republished the pattern in 2007's Kaffe Knits Again, for a brilliant shade of peacock blue - 512 "Exotic."

In addition to the yarn, we have included 2.25 yards of Kaffe's wonderful Broad Stripe fabric in colorway 8 for the backing. This unique fabric was handwoven in India by local craftsmen on simple looms and makes the perfect finish to your knitting. BS-8 was discontinued years ago and is amost impossible to find today, giving you a unique opportunity to create a garment that fully captures Kaffe's genius for color.
